NEW ZEALAND CADETS
INSPECTED BY THE HIGH COMMISSIONER. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) LONDON, August 21. The New Zealand High Commissioner, Mr Jordan, when inspecting New Zealand cadet ratings under instruction on H.M.S. King Alfred, met Telegraphist Niven Mitchell, Christchurch, and Motor Mechanic Dew Gillies, Wellington, both of whom had just returned from Dieppe. Both were fit and well. They told Mr Jordan that they were pleased to get the chance to participate in the operation. Mr Jordan also met Paymaster-Lieu-tenant-Commander G. H. Ashby, who recently returned after doing service on the New Zealand station. He is now instructing on H.M.S. King Alfred. Among those who received commissions as sub-lientenants on the day of Mr Jordan’s visit was D. H. Scott, Wellington. Cadets on H.M.S. King Alfred include F. H. Deverell, T. Wiren, J. A. Livingstone, D. F. Watts, M. Bannister and P. Hindle, Wellington; G. D. Burton, Lower Hutt; and M. E. Wycherley and C. W. Holmes. Palmerston North.
