FOOTBALL
ARMY MATCH. ATTRACTION ON SATURDAY. At the Carterton Showgrounds on Saturday afternoon an Army match. Wairarapa v Manawatu, will be played, commencing at 3 o'clock. Both teams comprise some of the most noted players in New Zealand, and one of the finest exhibitions of the code seen in the Wairarapa since the days when the Ranfurly Shield was held by Wairarapa should be seen. Both sides possess big and fast forwards while the backs are nippy and resourceful. The Manawatu team includes many players who arc known on every football field in the Dominion while in the Wairaraua ranks will be found footballers who have’ helped to build up the reputation of New Zealand in the Rugby world. Those who appreciate fast and clever football should not miss seeing the match at Carterton on Saturday afternoon. There will be a curtainraiser at 1.30 p.m.
The Masterton B team to play Featherston on Saturday will be chosen from the following: Stone (2), Forrest, O'Shea (3), Wishart, Little, Gill, Smith, Duley, Marsh (2), Davis, Stewart, Thorne. McNichol, Gleeson, Munn, O’Brien and Patete.
