An intimation was given by the Mayor, Mr T. He was hopeful that something could be done in the direction desired. Buried by Slip.

A fortunate escape from serious injury was experienced by two Home Guardsmen when their unit was excavating a cliff face at Ngakuru at the weekend for the purpose of forming a rifle range. The face of the hillside had been steeply cut to a depth of about 12ft. when it suddenly gave way and buried the two Home Guardsmen up to their shoulders. It took some time for the men to be dug out by other members of the unit. Apart from shock, they were little the worse for their Experience.
