ESPERANTO
MASTERTON CLUB MEETING. The weekly meeting of the Masterton Esperanto Club was held last evening, Mr N. Lamont presiding over a good attendance of members. Correspondence included a letter received from the club’s former secretary, Driver Howard Franks, now serving with the 2nd N.Z.E.F. in the Middle East. Driver Franks said the Esperanto movement was well established in Egypt, there being numerous keenly -working enthusiasts in the two large clubs in Alexandria and Cairo. His greatest pleasure was, however, in meeting a French Esperantist doctor, an eminent delegate of the International Esperanto League, of which Driver Franks himself is a member. Mrs Lamont presented an interesting original article in Esperanto entitled “Paciflka Interlude” (A Pacific Interlude), dealing with a trip to the South Seas Islands. This item was followed by a study session embracing conversational Esperanto,' reading aloud, translation, general questions and dictionary exploration.
