CARTERTON

ORDER OF ODD FELLOWS LOYAL HEART OF OAK LODGE. (“Times-Age” Special.) P.G. Sister M. E. Mellish presided over a fair attendance of members of the Loyal Heart of Oak Lodge of Odd Fellows held last evening. A vote of condolence was passed to Past District Grand Master Bro. C. O. Jorgensen in his recent bereavement. One member declared on the sick funds of the lodge. Sick pay totalling £l3 16s 8d was passed for payment as well as other accounts ajnounting to £lO Is. The question of forwarding parcels to soldiers serving overseas was left till the next meeting, which will be quarter night. The secretary was authorised to interview Mrs StefEert with regard to the lodge sending a parcel to Bro. Arty Steffert, who is a prisoner of war in Germany. One new member was proposed and initiated into the lodge. Personal items. Miss Dorothy Garrett, of Belvedere, who is shortly to be married, will be tendered a “parcel evening” at the Belvedere Schoolroom on Thursday. Able Seaman Noel Jensen, son of Mr and Mrs Frank Jensen, of Brooklyn Road, Carterton, was among the four New Zealanders and seventeen Australians who were rescued from a sinking ship some time ago. Able Seaman Jensen, before leaving Carterton, was employed at the Carterton branch of the W.F.C.A.
