GERMANS IN FRANCE
ORDERED TO UNDERGO TRAINING MEASURES OF PRECAUTION. AGAINST OPENING OF SECOND FRONT. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, Noon.) LONDON, August 17. “All German civilians and officials in France have been compelled to undergo a minimum of a fortnight’s special military training in barracks, as a precaution against the opening of a second front,” declared Mr B. S. Townroe, who was the honorary secretary of the British Institute in Paris. “They find the German Home Gaurd within the hordes of German officials who descended on France.”
MOVE IN HOLLAND TRANSFER OF OCCUPATION HEADQUARTERS. TO PLACE NEAR EASTERN FRONTIER. (Received This Day, Noon.) LONDON, August 17. From Moscow the Tass Agency reports that the Germans have ordered General Christiasen to transfer the headquarters of the occupation forces in Holland from The Hague to an undisclosed place near the eastern frontier of Holland.
