The following official weather report and forecast was issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, at noon today:— DISTRICT FORECAST: Southerly winds soon becoming strong and reaching gale force in some exposed positions. Weather dull with further mist and rain. Cool temperatures. FURTHER OUTLOOK: Cloudy, cold and showery. LOCAL REPORT. Mr N. W. Towns reports as follows for the 24 hours ended 8 a.m. today: — Barograph, 29.82; shade temperature, maximum 60.2, minimum 37; terrestrial, 26.4; sunshine, 4 hours 48 minutes; rain, 12 points; frost, 4 degrees. Mr H. M. Boddington reports that 13 points of rain fell at Solway during the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today. PHASES OF THE MOON. New moon, August 12. First quarter, August 19. Full moon, August 26. Draw blinds at 6.15 p.m. today; raise them at 6.44 a.m. tomorrow.
