COURSING CLUB
SUCCESSFUL CUP MEETING.
At a committee meeting of the Wairarapa Coursing Club held last evening a report of the North Island Cup event held last weekend was presented. A very satisfactory financial return for the meeting was disclosed. Members spoke appreciatively of the gooo. work of officials, especially the excellent manner in which Messrs L. M. Archer and R. McEwen slipped the hares and dogs respectively. The honorary judge, Mr S. D. Geary, was also complimented on the prompt manner in which he gave his decisions. It was decided to conclude the season’s coursing on September 6 with the running of an event for Mr F. Holmes's trophy. The next meeting, to be held on August 23, would be for the Physick Cup, an open event, and an 8-dog maiden stake. This would be followed by an open stake for local dogs for Mr F. Yule’s trophy on August 30. Mr Yule’s and Mr Holmes’s trophies are to be won outright, To ensure a good supply, of hares for next season a drive will be held on Sunday morning, vehicles leaving town at 9 o’clock.
