“FLYING DRAGONS”

AMERICAN AIR FORCE IN CHINA TRIBUTES to great deeds. INDICATIONS OF JAPANESE NERVOUSNESS. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 12.50 p.m.) CHUNGKING, August 6. The American Air Force, which has performed great deeds since it began operations in China on July 4, when it replaced the American Volunteer Group or “Flying Tigers,” has now been dubbed the “Flying Dragons,” by the admiring Chinese. A Chinese spokesman, lauding the “Dragons,” revealed that their aggressive tactics had made the Japanese authorities in Hankow so jittery that they have abandoned their accustomed easy living. Most of the Japanese and puppet departments have moved to a zone established for refugees. Simultaneously, Axis puppet flags, which previously were flaunted from various buildings have been discreetly removed, because of the temptation they offered to the American bombers. The fighting between ground forces continues to be heavy around Linchwan and also south of Nanchang, with minor fighting in the Lishui-Sungyan sector of Chekiang.
