BOMBED AGAIN
INDUSTRIAL OBJECTIVES I IN THE REHR MINOR RAIDS ON BRITAIN. COASTAL COMMAND' ACTIVITIES EXTENDING. LONDON, August 6. R.A.F. bombers were out over Germany last night. Targets were attacked in the industrial Ruhr. , Five planes are missing. Over Britain, two enemy planes dropped bombs at places in East Anglia, with only slight damage. Coastal Command operations against U-boats and enemy planes in the Bay of Biscay are increasing in pace and intensity. The Air Ministry states; “The Coastal Command destroyed an enemy float plane off the French coast last night. “One of our fighters is missing from a daylight patrol yesterday.” Home-based squadrons of the R.A.F. Bomber Command in July carried a 'load of bombs nearly equal in weight ’to the previous highest total for any month. Daylight attacks on Germany and occupied Europe exceeded night attacks. On two night alone —Duisburg on July 25, and Hamburg on July 26, about 1200 tons of bombs were dropped. Such an attack was never achieved by the Germans even at the height of their assault on Britain. The Bomber Command lost 184 machines in July, and destroyed nine enemy fighters. The Fighter Command lost 62 and destroyed 32 German fighters and ten bombers. NAZI FLOAT PLANE SHOT DOWN IN BAY OF BISCAY. ANOTHER DAMAGED. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 9.5 a.m.) RUGBY, August 6. The Germans are now employing aircraft in the Bay of Biscay area, in an attempt to counter British air attacks on submarines. Beaufighters, which are being used in that area, yesterday shot down a float-plane and damaged another.
