EARTHQUAKE DAMAGE TUHITARATA AREA SUFFERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) In the earthquake on Sunday morning damage was done to chimneys recently completed, at the post office, and at a private residence. The chimneys are to be pulled down and reerected. Houses in the Tuhitarata area were considerably shaken. In one instance the main building was parted from the verandah. Personal Items. ’Among those reported missing, believed prisoner of war, is Private Jack Henson, son of Mr and the late Mrs Henson, formerly residents of this district. Mrs Murphy has returned to Wanganui. The death occurred at Wellington recently of the wife of Mr J. Churchward. She was a grand-niece of the late Tamahau Mahupuka and the eldest daughter of Captain George McGregor and Mrs Maata Asher. The funeral took place in Wellington. Mr and Mrs Sullivan are visiting relatives here. Mr Enoka has returned to Wellington.
