ALFREDTON

PRODUCTION PROBLEMS MEETING ON SATURDAY. (“Times-Age” Special.) A most successful meeting was held at Alfredton on Saturday afternoon to consider means to increase production to meet war needs. There was an attendance of about 100, including many women. The speakers were Messrs R. H.-Brewerton, who dealt with various aspects of manpower problems, J. Robertson, M.P., who referred to the general war situation in the Pacific and its serious possibilities, and B. Roberts, M.P., who spoke on the need for increased production of wheat, vegetables, etc., to meet the existing conditions. Mr F. Guy Lewis presided. It was evident that those present were deeply impressed by what the speakers had to say and recognised the pressing need of increasing production. Mr R. W. Kebbell was unable to be present owing to illness.
