SUNDERLAND FLYING-BOAT. ACTION IN BAY OF BISCAY. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 11.45 a.m.) RUGBY, August 2. A naval officer who was aboard a Sunderland flying-boat which was attacked by three German float-planes in the Bay of Biscay on Thursday, described the action as similar to a naval action, and declared the Sunderland was the battleship of the air. The Sunderland’s gunners shot down one of the enemy planes and escaped with only superficial damage and no casualties.
