SALE AT FEILDING PRIME FAT EWES INCREASE IN PRICE. DEMAND FOR WETHER HOGGETS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) FEILDING, July 31. While most departments of the stock sale were quiet, there was an exceptional air about the fat sheep section, specially fat ewes, today, when a heavy yarding was offered. Prime fat ewes advanced about 5s a head. Fat wethers were firm at previous rates. A small yarding of store sheep met a good sale for wether hoggets. The range of prices was as follows: Fat wether, prime quality, 33s 4d to 33s lOd; good, 32s Id to 32s lOd; light, 275; prime heavy-ewes, 28s Id to 28s 7d (one small pen of exceptional weight 32s Id); good, to 26s 7d: black faces, prime heavy, 32s Id to 32s 10s; good, to 275; prime lambs, 25s 7d. Store sheep: Ewe hoggets, 25s 6d to 26s 9d; wether hoggets, good, to 21s 16d; fair, 17s to 20s 6d; two-tooth ewes, 26s to 30s; five-year, to 235. Dairy springing heifers, to £8 ss; springing cows, to £9 ss; run cattle, three-year P.A. steers, £8 Ils to £9 15s; backward lines from £6 12s 6d; heifers, to £5 12s 6d; cows, to £8 ss; Hereford steers, £8 2s 6d to £9 2s; fat bullocks, £9 15s to £lO 17s 6d; steers to £8; heifers, to £8 10s; weaners, to £3; store cows, to £4. CARTERTON SALE GOOD PRICES FOR SHEEP. FAT CATTLE MAKE LATE RATES. Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report as follows on their Carterton sale yesterday: There was a smaller yarding than usual owing ttt the weather conditions. The few sheep yarded made good money. There was very little comoetition for springing cows dfid heifers. The best sorts created limited bidding, but prices were low when compared with late sales. Most of the later calvers were not sold. Fat and store cattle sold at late rates. The following are prices: Sheep: Fat ewes to 23s lOd, store ewes to 12s, m.a. ewes r.w. S.D. rams to 19s. Pigs: Porkers £2 10s to £2 12s. Cattle: Choice Jersey cows on drop £lO, £ll, £l2 to £l3; springing cows £6, £6 10s, £7, £7 10s; Jersey cows, just calved, £5, £6 15s, £7 10s, £8; Jersey heifers on drop, £B, £8 10s, £lO 10s; springing Jersey heifers, £7 10s* fat caws, £5, £5 10s, £6 to £8 ss; forward cows. £3, £3 10s, £4, £4 2s 6d; store cows. 255, £2, £2 17s 6d; empty heifers, £3 3s. £)3 ss, £4, £4 15s.
