TAX ADJUSTMENTS

PROMISED BY FEDERAL PREMIER CONCESSIONS EXPECTED. TO MEMBERS OF MILITARY FORCES. (Special Australian Correspondent.) (Received This Day, 1 p.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. An assurance by the Prime Minister, Mr J.- Curtin, that the Government “would make such taxation adjustments as are proper,” is believed to indicate that the Federal Government has decided to make some income tax concessions to members of the fighting forces in Australia. Though no official statement has been made, it has been, reliably reported that all ranks below that of lieutenant will not pay taxation. It is probable that sustenance and field allowances of 2s 5d and 3s 5d a day will not be taxed.
