LATE MR GODFREY TAYLOR

LARGELY-ATTENDED FUNERAL. The funeral of the late Mr G. Godfrey Taylor took place at Pahiatua yesterday afternoon and was largely attended by settlers from all parts of the district. At St. Peter’s Church a guard of honour was formed by pupils of the Pahiatua District High School of which institution Mr Taylor had been chairman for the past twenty years. The service at the church and the graveside was taken by the Rev K. F. Button assisted by the Rev. F. E. Fleury, Kimbolton (brother-in-law of the deceased). A large number of beautiful floral emblems, testifying to the respect and esteem in which Mr Taylor was held, were laid upon the grave. These included wreaths from the following institutions: —Bush Dairy Factories’ Association, Mangahao Dairy Company, Pahiatua Dairy Company, Rexdale Dairy Company, Mangatainoka Dairy Co., Woodville Dairy Co., North Tiraumea Dairy Company, Konini Dairy Co., Directors Konini Dairy Co., Manager and staff Konini Dairy Co., Kaiparoro Dairy Co., Newman Dairy Co., staff and pupils Pahiatua District High School, Committee Pahiatua District High School. Druids’ Lodge (senior and junior), Wardens, vestry and congregation St. Peter’s Church, St. Peter’s senior Girls’ Club, St. Peter’s Ladies’ Guild, Methodist Church, Proprietors and staff “Pahiatua Herald,” Management and staff “Wairarapa Times-Age,” management and staff Ocean Accident Insurance Co. (Wellington), Masterton Permanent Investment and Building Society, Bank of New Zealand and staff (Pahiatua), Pahiatua Bowling Club, Directors Tui Brewery Co., E.P.S. Wardens, Pahiatua Club, and Pahiatua Gas Co. The pallbearers at the church were Messrs S. Mclntosh (Bush Dairy Factories’ Association), T. Burr (Pahiatua Gas Co.), C. H. Brown (Mangahao Cheese Co.), A. S. Clulow (Konini Dairy Co.), K. Taylor (St. Peter’s Vestry), W. Greaves (Pahiatua District High School), and at the graveside Messrs George, Hugh and Don. Taylor (sons), and Messrs W .Harris, T. H. Verry Junr., and F. H. Bryant (sons-in-law).
