THREATS BY TOJO
AXIS ABOUT TO “JOIN UP.” AUSTRALIA INVITED TO SURRENDER. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 1.5 p.m.) NEW YORK, July 27. The Tokio radio quoted General Tojo, as saying: “The Axis is shortly joining up to mete out a final blow to our common enemies.” The Japanese Premier added: “Australia is now completely isolated and is hopelessly awaiting reinforcements from America. If she persists in her useless resistance there is no need to reiterate that Japan will show no mercy in crushing her.”
