HOCKEY
WAIRARAPA COMPETITIONS. SATURDAY'S RESULTS. The weather conditions were not of the best on Saturday for hockey but the ground at Lansdowne was in good order for the game. MEN’S DIVISION Only one game was played in the men's section, that being between No. 8 and No. 1 teams, the former team (Wairarapa College) having a surprise win which was well reserved. These boys have been steadily improving since the season commenced. .They will probably compete in the secondary schools’ tournament next month in Auckland and on then’ present form should do well. LADIES’ SECTION. The ladies’ game, Excelsior v Carterton, diet not provide a very good standard of hockey. Nevertheless, there were occasional bright spots in the play. The game was not as one-sided as the score would indicate. The Excelsior team owed its win to the superior play of the forward line. RESULTS AT A GLANCE. Men. No. 8 team 3, No. 1 team 2. Senior Ladies. (Kia Toa Cup.) Excelsior 6. Carterton 0. Greytown 6, College 0. Junior Ladies. (Morris Cun.) Excelsior 3. College 0. Carterton A 2, Sincerity 0.
