OBITUARY '

MISS EDITH MARY WATERSON. (“Times-Age” Special.) The death occurred yesterday at the Masterton Hospital of Miss Edith Mary Waterson at the age of 73 years. Born in the Hutt district the late Miss Waterson came to Dalefield with her parents, Mr and Mrs George Waterson, when 18 months old. She attended a private school which was situated in those days at what was known as the Maori Clearing. She later was a pupil at the old Carterton School at the southern end of Carterton. Deceased, who possessed a kindly nature, has left many friends who will learn with feelings of deep regret of her death. For many years she followed the profession of nurse. She was an ardent supporter of the Methodist Church. She leaves four sisters, Mesdames J. Bambry, Dalefield; Herbert Knowles, Wheatstone Street, Carterton; H. Peters, Pembroke Street, Carterton, and Miss Marion Waterson, Pembroke Street, Carterton, and one brother, Mr W. Waterson, Victoria Street, Carterton. The funeral will take place on Monday at 1 p.m. Repairs to Regent Theatre. It is expected that the contractors will commence repair work at the Regent Picture Theatre, Carterton, shortly. Considering the severity of the earthquake very little damage was done to the building, but the operating box suffered considerably. Red Cross Dance. The Carterton Red Cross Transport Unit has decided to hold a dance in the State Theatre on Wednesday next. The proceeds will be devoted to the normal activities fund of the Carterton Red Cross Society. Personal Items. Mrs J. B. Brickell, Kent Street, Carterton, has been notified that her son, Burnett Brickell, is reported missing.. Mr and Mrs Broome, of Pembroke Street, Carterton, left today to take up their residence at Lower Hutt. Sharp Earthquake. A sharp earthquake, preceded by a loud rumbling noise, was felt in Carterton at 5.15 o’clock this morning.
