ST. ANDREW SOCIETY

MEETING OF COUNCIL. NEW MEMBERS WELCOMED. At a meeting of the Council of the Saint Andrew Society, held last night, the Chief, Mr H. Mackenzie Douglas, presided over a good attendance of members. He welcomed to the Council two new members, Miss Ella Edwards and Mr R. Lennie, both keen members of the Society. He also spoke of the Council’s regret at the illness of Chieftain McLaren, and expressed the hope that he would soon be restored to health. In view of the fact that the July gathering had been cancelled, it was decided to hold a dance in the Masonic Hall on Wednesday, August 12. This will be open to the public, and will consist of old-time and Scottish dances. Owing to the difficulty of obtaining the services of a piper, it has been found necessary to discontinue the dance practices, b.ut the Council hopes that at a later date these may be resumed.
