REGENT THEATRE
“HELLZAPOPPIN.” When it comes to pictures of the super-crazy class, “Hellzapoppin,” which will be shown tonight, takes first prize. Olson and Johnson, of stage and radio fame, are the comperes and occasional participants in this whirlwind of nonsense, and the result is one long succession of laughs as one crazy pattern follows another. There is no plot, there is a splash of romance, and an attenuated thread of a story that ties everything together. Some of the sequences are beyond description, but they are all great fun, and the whole picture takes one’s mind off everything but the picture. Every trick of the camera is brilliantly exploited—split screen, stopped camera, double exposure, two films .on the screen at once, stills which jump to life.
