VEGETABLE GROWING SUCCESS OF CHILDREN. (“Times-Age” Special.) In connection with the Wairarapa Boys’ and Girls’ Agricultural Clubs’ competitions the Wairarapa championship for mangel growing was won by Nancy Cheetham. Rex McArley came first in Group I. schools for the best carrot crop. Personal Items. Mr E. Algar, of the Mauriceville Dairy Factory, has been appointed manager of a factory in the Balclutha district. A number of friends were invited to the residence of Mrs G. McWhirter yesterday afternoon to bid farewell to Mrs Algar, a most enjoyable time being spent. Mrs Baine, on behalf of those' present, handed to Mrs Algar a crystal sweet dish, and expressed regret that Mrs Algar was leaving the district. Mrs Algar suitably replied, thanking Mrs McWhirter and those responsible for having arranged such an enjoyable gathering. Joan and Margaret McWhirter presented Mrs Algar with a bouquet and shoulder spray. Miss E. Wilkin is to be tendered a kitchen tea on Saturday evening.
