ST. JOHN’S CHURCH MEETING OF GUILD. (“Times- Age” Special.) There was a good attendance ci members at the monthly meeting of the St. John’s Church Ladies’ Guild yesterday afternoon, Mrs Bloxam presiding. One new member was welcomed. Mrs J. R. Higgs gave a very interesting talk on “Happiness.” Mrs Higgs was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. The tea hostesses were Mesdames H. R. Bloxam, G. M. Brown and R. W. Matthews. Scouts and Cubs. Last evening the Scouts and Cubs held a social gathering in the Town Hall. The Cubs had tea in the hall, and later with the Scouts entertained thcii relatives and friends. A welcome was given to Mr R. N. Barton, Wairarapa Commissioner. During the evening, Mr Cooksley, Commissioner of Training, addressee the boys. Supper was provided. Repairing of Chimneys. Progress is being made with the repairing of chimneys damaged in the earthquake. Out of the 200 damagec. chimneys, 43 have been erected. The work of repairing chimneys in the country districts is also being carried out as expeditiously as possible. COSY THEATRE DOUBLE PROGRAMME. The programme tonight will be headed by “Highway West,” a thrilling drama featuring Arthur Kennedy ano Brenda Marshall, and “Back in the Saddle,” a Gene Autry story of the West.
