SOLDIERS’ HOSTEL
4. ANNUAL MEETING ON WEDNESDAY. OPERATIONS FOR PAST YEAR. The annual report of the Wairarapa Soldiers’ Hostel for the year ended June 30. 1942, states: After making the very necessary reserve for repairs and renewals, our expenditure exceeded revenue by £47 11s Bd. All members will be glad that the effort's of our Masterton Ladies’ Entertainment Committee are being appreciated by men of the Services, as is shown by the large attendances at the functions held in the club’s premises. Whatman Cup.—The members of last year’s winning team, C. H. Devenport, R. Whyborn, A. H. Ward and V. Heath, are to be congratulated on their win. Owing to lack of nominations, combined with the increased use of our tables by our khaki visitors, your committee has decided not to hold the competition this winter. Billiards and snooker: We have played a tournament against the Air Force, and are looking forward to further matches with other branches of 'our Fighting Forces. We ask you to show your interest in and appreciation of your club by attending our annual meeting. The report is signed by Mr P. G. Ramsay, president.
