AWARDED THE D.F.C.

WARRANT OFFICER F. E. HOGG. OLD BOY OF WAIRARAPA HIGH SCHOOL. Warrant Officer Francis Emslie Hogg, R.N.Z.A.F., is awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. Born in. Edinburgh in October, 1919, Warrant Officer Hogg was educated at the Wairarapa High School. He commenced training with the Royal New Zealand Air Force in November, 1939, leaving New Zealand in April, 1940. The citation accompanying the award states: “As observer he has completed a large number of operational sorties against targets in Germany and enemy aerodromes in northern France, Holland and Belgium. Has displayed great courage and his persistence and skill in bombing enemy aerodromes at night has been most marked.” Warrant Officer Hogg’s father is Mr D. W. Hogg, 9 Sussex Street, Masterton.
