WAIRARAPA CLUB EVENT. BLACK- AND WHITE CUP CONTEST. Some excellent coursing was seen at Akura yesterday when a maiden stake was run for the Black and White' Cup. The winner was S. Gerrand’s Royal Routine, which defeated Mrs L. H. Jones’s Royal Silver, 4/0, in the final. Details are:— First round: Orui Lady, R. D. Gerrand (Masterton) 3, beat Border Maid, L. Kjar (Masterton), 3/0; Royal Routine, S. Gerrand (Masterton) beat Silver Charm J. Bradbury, N.S; (Masterton), 4/0; Gold Trail, L. Gray (Masterton) beat Mac’s Worry, F. Yule (Carterton), 6/14; Spitfire Joe, Miss P. Hanley (Masterton) beat Stormy Footsteps, E. Allsworth (Masterton), 4/0; Royal Step, J. Ryan (Masterton) beat Phantom Gold, Cooke & McGrath (Wellington), 2/0; Royal Silver, Mrs L. H. Jones (Masterton) beat Arim Bey, Cooke and McGrath (Wellington) 5/0; Lord Wilga, Mrs W. Williams (Masterton), a bye. Second round: Royal Routine beat Orui Lady, 6/2; Gold Trail beat Spitfire Joe 14/1; Royal Step beat Lord Wi'lga, 34/2; Royal Silver a bye. Semi-final: Royal Routine beat Gold Trail, 3/0; Royal Silver beat Royal Step. 7/1. Final. —Royal Routine beat Royal Silver, 4/0.
