VISITING AUSTRALIA
NEW ZEALAND PREMIER DISCUSSIONS WITH FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. GENERAL HURLEY WITH PARTY. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. The Prime Minister (Mr Fraser) left by air this morning for Australia, where it is his intention to undertake discussions with the Federal Prime Minister (Mr Curtin) and the Commonwealth Gov 1 ernment on the war situation and other matters of mutual interest to the two countries. Mr Fraser is also meeting General MacArthur. The American Minister to New Zealand (Brigadier-General Hurley) travelled to Australia on the same plane. Other members of the party were Messrs C. A. Berendsen (Permanent Head of the Prime Minister's Department), B. C. Ashwin, Secretary to the Treasury, and W. O. Harvey, Private Secretary. General Hurley is accompanied by the Military Attache to his Legation, Colonel J. FI. Nankivell, and his Private Secretary, Mr J. E. Horner. It is not anticipated that Mr Fraser will be absent from New Zealand for more than a few days.
