ST. MATTHEW’S SCHOOL

CHILDREN’S PARTY. A SUCCESSFUL GATHERING. The annual children’s fancy dress party was held on Saturday afternoon by the St. Matthew’s Parents’ Association in the College Assembly Hall. Despite the wet and boisterous weather there were over Seventy children present, many of the costumes being of very striking designs. There was a large attendance of parents who were welcomed by the Principal, Mrs Cleghorn. The children spent a most enjoyable time in games and dancing organised and supervised by Miss Lloyd and Mrs Messenger. The music was supplied by Mr B. Iveson, while Miss Lloyd and Mrs Messenger played for a school dance each. The arrangements made by the Parents’ Association for the dance were complete in every detail and reflected the greatest credit upon those responsible, providing the maximum of enjoyment for the children and pleasure for the adults. Afternoon tea was provided for the parents and visitors, while the children sat down to a real party spread and did full justice to the good things provided. It was certainly one of the most successful and enjoyable children’s parties recorded in the long list of similar annual gatherings held at St. Matthew’s School.
