FAREWELL GATHERING

SOLWAY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. RT. REV. J. DAVIE PRESENTED WITH GIFT. At the residence of Mr and Mrs P. G. McKay the members of the Solway Presbyterian Church 'assembled to bid farewell to the Rt. Rev. John Davie, who will shortly depart for Gisborne. Mr Colin McLauchlan presented Mr Davie with a writing case as a token of their esteem and appreciation. It was stated by Mrs McKay that those who went to church were those who knew and appreciated Mr Davie more than those who stayed away. Mr Davie thanked Mr McLauchlan ipid the members for their gift and kind words. In doing so he expressed appreciation to Miss Phyllis Falloon, the Solway organist, for her 18i years’ service to the church. He handed her a beautiful crystal bowl as a small token of his appreciation of her splendid work. . Miss Jean Cam cron presented Miss Falloon with a shoulder spray from the congregation. Mr and Mrs McKay were thanked for the use of their home for the gathering.
