BEEFLESS DAYS

POSSIBLE IN AUSTRALIA. (By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright) SYDNEY, July 17. Beefless days may have to be introduced in Australia, states the Minister of Commerce. Mr Scully. Beef was scarce throughout the Commonwealth, he said, largely because of the shortage of transport facilities to tring the cattle from inland. However, the Minister hoped to avert a beef shortage by appealing to the patriotism of meat eaters. He would ask them to substitute lamb and mutton lor beef. The changeover would allow the Government to export more beef to Britain than would be possible otherwise.
