“MAIL TRAIN.” “Mail Train,” which will be shown tonight, is a tale of warshocked England starring Gordon Harker and Alastair Sim. Alluring Phyllis Calvert and Edward Chapman try to thwart the British bulldogs, and there is a smash climax. , In the other feature, Zane Greys well-known story, “Riders of the Purple Sage,” the principal role is taken by George Montgomery, whose marksmanship and fast riding are featured throughout. The film depicts the open country of Arizona, at a period when there was no law but that of the Vigilantes, and it concerns the efforts of Lassiter (George Montgomery), £> cowhand from Texas who is trying to trace his niece who disappeared 14 years before, puring his search for his relative Lassiter falls foul of the local Vigilante Committee by preventing its members from flogging a cowhand for alleged rustling. Mary Howard is the pretty ranch-owner whose cattle are saved by the mysterious stranger, who later helps her to . recover her adopted child. There is a thrilling climax in which all the desperado vigilantes are wiped out by a tremendous landslide.
