REGENT THEATRE
“LOUISIANA PURCHASE.” A New York critic commends “Louisiana Purchase,” which will be shown tonight at the Regent Theatre, for its fidelity to the stage version which ran so successfully on Broadway for more than 12 months. He waxes enthusiastic over the. inclusion of two important members of the stage cast in the film —Victor Moore, as the somewhat pathetic senator, and Irene Bordoni, whose last screen appearance was in “Paris” many years ago. He is sorry, however, that Miss Bordoni does not sing “Tomorrow is a Lovely Day“ as she did in the play. But “Louisiana Purchase” has everything to win the applause of the filmgoer, who likes his entertainment witty, well-dressed and tuneful. The prize of the show is Bob Hope, into whose mouth is put so many clever lines and so much crackling repartee that it is often minutes later before the full force of the joke drives home. Another bright gem is the brilliant dancing (in a maze of colour) oi Zorina. _
