ANOTHER MURDER
WOMAN’S BODY FOUND IN MELBOURNE. / PROCEEDINGS IN LEONSKI COURT-MARTIAL. (Special Australian Correspondent.) MELBOURNE, July 16. The nude body of another murdered woman has been found in a hospital grounds here. Her throat was bruised, and it is believed she was strangled. The woman, who was about 40 years of age, has not been identified. Evidence that a woman was seen drinking with an American soldiei- in a city hotel till after midnight on the night that Mrs Pauline Thompson was murdered was given by three witnesses at the continuation of the Leonski court-martial. None of the witnesses was able to identify Leonski as the soldier. A barman said that they had eight or 10 drinks. Further evidence in this case was reserved. The case of Mrs Violet McLeod was opened with evidence that the cause of death was suffocation. A barman employed at a hotel said that about daylight on May 3 he saw an American soldier stooping in a doorway near the hotel. The soldier then walked away. When the witness looked in the doorway he saw the body of a woman with her clothes disarranged.
