A scheme for welcoming members of the military forces returning to New Zealand from service overseas and for facilitating their entry into the church life in the parishes where they make their homes was approved by the Wellington Diocesan Synod yesterday. Vicars are to be asked to compile a roll or book of remembrance, recording the names of all men of their congregations, with the approval of the men or their relatives or friends, who are serving overseas with the forces and also to remember these men by name at certain services in the church. Chaplains on returning troopships or hospital ships are to be asked to provide particulars of Church of England men by filling in just before arrival in New Zealand certain forms to be forwarded to vicars.
