STOCK MARKET

SALE AT ADDINGTON VALUES EASIER., ADVANCE IN PORKER PRICES. (By Telegraph—Press ' Association.) CHRISTCHURCH July 15. Entries were larger in most sections of stock today at the Addington market. Values were on afi easier level both for beef and mutton. The store sheep entry numbered 1130. The quality of the ewe hoggets was very mediocre, the best price being 30s for a pen of Dorset Horn. A pen of open-woolled ewes realised 265. The balance sold from 15s to 235. Two-tooth wethers sold to 275. Fourtooth ewes made to 26s 3d, and four-year-olds to 25s 9d; medium, 19(3 Id to 21s 9d; others, 16s 3d to 17s. The fat sheep yarded included a large proportion of medium ewes, which failed to elicit much competition, and values were down by 2s a head. There were, however, some pens of prime ewes, and these realised to 275. Wethers were once more in keen demand. Prices for best ranged from 44s 6d to 50s, prices for medium to heavy being on a pan with last week’s rates, but lighter sheep showed a decline of about 2s 6d a head. There was a good showing of prime heavy bullocks, but the market, under pressure of the heavy supply, was weaker from the outset, and in the later stages steers were down by 20s a head, with medium classes of cows slightly more. Best beef ranged to 42s 6d per hundred, extra prime steers, to 445; good, 37s 6d to 40s: ordinary, 34s to 375; and inferior, to 30s. <? The porker entry was smaller than a week ago. Competition was again exceptionally keen and values for all classes advanced by 2s to 3s a head, average price per pound B’/ad to lOd. Choppers were in medium supply, but values showed no quotable change. There was a small entry in the bacon section. All classes sold at last week’s rates, average price per pound 7d to S'/atJ.
