ALL-BRITISH STEN GUN. (Bv Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright) LONDON, July 14. No gun was ever designed, tested ,or ordered so quickly as the all-British Sten gun. When the British Army lost its equipment at Dunkirk, the Americans had the Thompson sub-machine-gun and the Germans had the Schmeisser type. Two British designers got down to their drawing boards in December, 1940, completed the design, made a prototype of the gun in one month, and by the end of January the gun had passed the War Office test and the first order for 100,000 had been placed. . The gun is now being produced in tens of thousands. _____
