SECOND ROUND
PROMISED IN BURMA MAJORITY OF NATIVE PEOPLE LOYAL. STATEMENT BY GOVERNOR. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 9.5 a.m.) RUGBY, July 14. The Governor of Burma, Sir Reginald Dorman-Smith, speaking in . London, insisted that the great majority of the Burmese were loyal and that', although the British were defeated in the recent campaign, they were going back to Burma. He ■said: “Japan won the first round in this fight, but we are getting ready to climb back into the ring. We think we shall win this second round. Burma is of terrific importance, if we are going to keep China supplied with arms and ammunition. Burma should be a great operational base for an attack against the Japanese.”
