ROAD UNDER WATER CHILDREN'S TRYING EXPERIENCE. (“Times-Age” Special.) Many roads in the Eketahuna district were flooded yesterday. Most of the children who are conveyed to school by bus in the Eketahuna district were returned to their homes before midday. Several children in. rhe Rongomai district whose homes were badly flooded were kept at the headmaster’s residence for the night. The Alfredton Road was very badly flooded. The island near the swing bridge bush was practically under water* yesterday. All stock had to be removed from low-lying country. The Makakihi River was in heavy flood. Jones’s Flat was very badly flooded. \ Damage to Telegraph Lines. About 40 linesmen have arrived here to overhaul the telegraph lines in the district, these having been badly damaged in the earthquake. Personal Items. Mr and Mrs J. P. Sigvertsen, of Rongokokako, have been notified that their two sons, Jack and Frank Sigvertsen, have been wounded in action. Word has been received by Mr and Mrs Anton Anderson, of Palmerston North, and late of Eketahuna, that their son, has been killed in action. Miss Sybil Green, who has been on a visit to New Plymouth, has returned home. Mesdames J. Berney and N. Liardet, who had been on a visit to Masterton, have returned home.
