SALVATION ARMY
TRAINING COLLEGE CADETS. For the first time in the history of the Salvation Army at Carterton Cadets of the Army’s Training College will visit the town this week. The Cadets are undergoing training along theological lines at the Salvation Army College in Wellington. At the end of the year they will be commissioned as officers of the Salvation Army, and sent to all parts of the Dominion, some to the military camps and others to field or social work. They arc being trained under the direction of Brigadier Florence Birks, ■who has the distinction of being the first woman officer to take the position of New Zealand Training Principal. The Brigadier is considered to be one of the best women speakers in the Dominion. The Cadets, on their visit to Carterton, will be uhder the leadership of Captain R. Chalmers, a young Training College Officer of ability. Carrington Rainfall. Mr J. A. Roberts states that from Sunday until last evening, 4.94 inches of rain were registered at Carrington. Personal. On Thursday evening at the Belvedere schoolroom the residents of Belvedere and Carrington will entertain Sergeant Pilot Trangmar at a social gathering.
