ENEMY AIR LOSSES

HEAVY IN ATTACKS ON MALTA. FIGURES FOR PAST WEEK. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 9.35 a.m.) RUGBY, July 13. Enemy air losses in the Middle Eastern theatre of war during the week ending on July 12 amounted to 116 planes, including 75 over Malta. Enemy air activity over Britain during the same period was slight. On no occasion did German planes approach beyond the coastal area. The Germans lost six bombers in these operations and the British did not lose one plane. British raids over Germany- and occupied territory were on a reduced scale, owing to unfavourable weather. There were, however, two important raids during the week, those on Wilhelmshaven on July 8 and on Danzig on July 11. In these and other operations, including mine-laying and fighting sweeps, the British lost 14 planes while the Germans had four shot down.
