FEATHERSTON
DAMAGED CHIMNEYS EARTHQUAKE REPAIRS. (“Times-Age” Special.) A few chimneys have been repaired since the earthquake and there are still a number of homes which are without fires. To some extent bricks are being replaced by galvanised iron and pipes in chimney repairing. The work of demolishing the damaged chimneys at Fernside has commenced. Each of the four chimneys contain two tons of bricks which will be taken down one by one. Personal. Requiem Mass was elebrated at St. Teresa’s Church on Tuesday in connection with the death of Pilot Officer William H. Rowles. The celebrant was the Rev. Father Devlin, and among the congregation present were Chaplain Captain Aldridge, Father Doohan (Silverstream College) and Father Connor. Euchre Tournament. Mrs Edwards and Miss Ruane were the winners of the euchre tournament held in the Service Club on Tuesday night. COSY THEATRE DOUBLE PROGRAMME. Tomorrow night there will be shown “Wide Open Town” and “The Flame of New Orleans,” both outstanding pictures.
