EKETAHUNA
RESTORATION WORK DIFFICULTIES NOW OVERCOME. (“Times-Age” Special.) Difficulties which had arisen in Eketahuna regarding labour for carrying out earthquake restoration work have been overcome and work is now proceeding according to the original intention. \ ’ At a meeting held in Eketahuna on Saturday afternoon to discuss the position that had arisen, those present included representatives of local bodies, of the business community, and of the Public Works Department, including Mr Newnham, chief engineer, and also Mr J. Robertson, M.P. The view was expressed that the meeting was quite satisfied with the steps taken by the Public Works Department to meet the position immediately after the earthquake and also appreciated what had been done by the military authorities and by the Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, and the member for the district, Mr Robertson. The trouble that had arisen regarding labour was got over as the result of the meeting and work was to proceed this morning according to the, original intention. 1
