GREYTOWN

AFTER THE EARTHQUAKE BUSINESS AS USUAL. (“Times-Age” Special.) Though badly hit by the earthquake Greytown is once more “in her stride,’ and business firms have again risen to the occasion by providing the usual high class service despite the difficulties brought about by the damage occasioned to shops during the earthquake. The business people of Greytown have once more demonstrated that they are able to meet whatever situation may arise with a promptness that is most commendable. Householders, too, have faced up to the position brought about by the earthquake in a spirit which could well be emulated by other communities.

Personal Items.

Miss Dulcie Rees, of Wellington, was a weekend visitor to Greytown. Miss M. Connolly, of the W.A.A.F., spent the weekend with her parents, Mr and Mrs T. Connolly, Main Street. Sergeant 0. Greathead, who recently returned from overseas, is visiting Greytown. The death occurred at the Grey town Hospital on Saturday ’of Mrs Mary Jane Smith, widow of Mr Charles Smith, Nelson, at the age of 98 years. One son, Mr Albert Smith, resides at Newman.

TOWN HALL OUTSTANDING COMEDY. _ Tomorrow night’s programme will be headed by “The Lady Eve,” one of the outstanding comedies of the year, starring Barbara Stanwyck, Henry Fonda and Eugene Pallette.
