TIRAUMEA

WOMEN’S DIVISION COMPETITION WINNERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the local Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, Mrs Harman presided. Two visitors were present, Mrs C. Raleigh, of an ex-member of the branch, and Mrs Burgess ,of Pahiatua. The usual parcels for soldiers were dispatched, these being packed by Mrs Wright. A letter was read from Sergeant Pilot Brian Spring, who is in the Middle East, stating that he had received the Division’s parcel in good order. The competitions resulted as follows: —Best bloom: Mrs M. Robbie 1. Best three scones: Mrs Wallis 1, Miss Harman 2. Amusement: Miss E. Hansen The hostesses were hfesdames Harman and Kitchen. Personal Items. Soldiers who recently visited the district were: Sergeants D. Hay, G. Fergus. Lance Corporal D. Curtis, Privates L. Wallis, K. Raleigh, and P. O’Brien. Private J. Hay is spending leave at Tiraumea. Mrs Burgess, Pahiatua, is the guest of Mrs Kitchen, Haunui. Mrs C. Richardson is visiting Mrs Harman, Haunui. Mrs C. Raleigh, who has been visiting friends in the district, is the guest of her sister-in-law, Mrs Scott Raleigh. Mrs Liverton, Seatoun, has been the guest of Mrs Curtis. Mr and Mrs A. J. Jewitt and family will leave the district shortly to take up their residence in Eketahuna.
