Miss Margaret Mace. Cole Street, Masterton, is visiting Wellington. Mrs Caro, Hawke’s Bay, is the guest of Mrs H. O. Toogood, Renall Street, Masterton.
Mrs B. R. Bunny, Cole Street, Masterton, has returned from a visit to the South Island. Mrs J. Selwyn, who has been staying with Mrs Dodds, Pownall Street, Masterton, has returned to- Wellington. Mr H. E. Hargood, who had been for some time operator at the Cosy Theatre, left Master ton recently to take up a position with the R.N.Z.A.F. The death occurred on Thursday of Mr T. H. Morrison, a principal of the firm of Morrison and Gilberd, Ltd., opticians, Wellington, at the age of 75. A son of Mr Thomas Morrison, jeweller, Napier, he was educated in that town and on leaving school entered his father’s business. In 1892, he turned to the optical profession, joining the firm of Mr A. Levi, Wellington, with whom he remained till Mr Levi’s death, when he took over the business with Mr H. S. Gilberd, under the name of Morrison and Gilberd. He was a keen sportsman in his youth, being the first man in Napier to ride a safety bicycle. He was also a prominent Rugby footballer, being a regular member of the Pirates Club for some years. As a forward he gained a place in the Hawke’s Bay representative team, which he captained for some seasons. He played for Hawke's Bay against A. E. Stoddart’s English team, which toured New Zealand in 1888.
