WOUND IN NECK
GENERAL FREYBERG’S INJURY NOT LIKELY TO BE SERIOUS. NEW ZEALAND GOOD WISHES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Prime Minister (Mr Fraser) anhounced today that he had received news earlier in the week that General Freyberg had been wounded and was in hospital. It was felt that this information might be of distinct value to the enemy and consequently that publication must be delayed. The country would be relieved to learn, said Mr Fraser, that this wound; which was caused by a shell splinter in the neck, was not likely to be serious. The latest reports stated that the wound was clean and that General Freyberg was progressing very well. The message added that he was undaunted. “The people will, I know,” added MrFraser, “join the Government in an expression of sympathy with General Freyberg and in their wishes for his speedy recovery.” ; Mr Fraser added that, in General Freybcrg’s absence, General Inglis was in charge of the New Zealand Division.
