CARTERTON

RED CROSS SOCIETY EXAMINATION RESULTS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The following members of the Transport Section of the Carterton SubCentre of the Red Cross Society have passed their A.R.P. examination which was conducted by Colonel Fee last month: —Misses Gregor, Vaughan, Higginson, Tully, Collier, Sorensen, Sheet, Lawrence, B. Freer, Lamb, Campbell, Waterson, Hamer, Mesdames Jones, Tait, Fairbrother, Moroney and Hastie. Residence Sold. Mr W. S. King has sold his residence in Memorial. Square to Mr Howard E. Jackson, Car ter ton, who will in future use it in connection with his profession of dentist. It is understood that Messrs Gawith, Biss, Wilson and Taverner’s offices will also be located in the same building. Personal Items. Mr Rex Porter accompanied by Mrs Porter and children, left Carterton yesterday en route for Wellington. Mr Porter will go into camp in the South Island on Saturday. Nurse Voila Tyler, of Waiouru Camp, accompanied by her sister, Miss Myra Tyler, who is an officer of the Salvation Army, Wellington, have been on a visit to Carterton. They left for Wellington yesterday. Mrs lan Bond has received word from her husband, Driver Bond, who is a prisoner of war in Italy, that he is enjoying good health and is being well looked after. Mrs Norman F. Teal, has received word from the authorities that her husband, Pte. Teal, is being invalided home from the Middle East. Footballer Injured. Mr C. Jensen, who was full-back for Wairarapa in the football match against the Army team last Saturday, had, tne misfortune to have his arm broken between the wrist and elbow. Earthquake Damage, Mr D. L. Taverner, Mayor of Carterton, announces that owners of premises which suffered structural damage in the earthquake must notify the Town Clerk before any repair work will be permitted to be carried out.
