Among the recipients of awards in the Commonwealth Birthday Honours list was Sergeant Newcombe Adrian Boddington, a nephew of Mi- H. M. Boddington, of Masterton. Sergeant Boddington, who was awarded the Air Force Medal, is a son of the late Mr A. R. (“Toby”) Boddington, formerly of Masterton. He is serving with the Royal Australia Air Force. Mrs J. Hannah, a resident of Woodville in its early days, died recently. Mrs Hannah arrived in New Zealand with her parents, Mr and Mrs Maisey, in 1875. After living in the Napier district for about three years, she went to Woodville, where many years of her early life were spent. Afterward she went to Foxton, where she lived for over 40 years. She spent the last five years of her life in Palmerston North. Mrs Hannah is survived by her husband and one son.
The death has occurred in Wanganui of Mr John Patrick Melody, aged 78 years. Mr Melody, who lived in Brunswick Road, Aramoho, where he had a small farm,. was born in Arrowtown, Otago. He went to Wanganui more than 50 years ago, and had lived in Aramoho for many years. He is survived by his wife, three sons, Messrs W. J. Melody, headmaster of Thorndon School, Wellington, and F. M. and E. Melody, both, of Wanganui, and four daughters.
