DEATH PENALTY
DEMANDED IN UNITED STATES FOR ENEMY SABOTEURS. ARRESTED MEN TO BE HANDED TO WAR DEPARTMENT. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 9.25 a.m.) WASHINGTON. June 30. The Attorney-General, Mr Biddle, indicated that the eight German saboteurs recently arrested after being landed from U-boats, will be handed over to the War Department for prosecution. In the meantime a demand for harsh penalties and a rapid trial is mounting throughout the country. A member of the House of Representatives, Mr Pfeiffer, has introduced a Bill in Congress calling for a mandatory death penalty for persons, alien or citizens, giving aid or comfort to the enemy.
