TANK DESTRUCTION

STUDIED IN AUSTRALIA. SOME FORMIDABLE WEAPONS. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) SYDNEY, June 28. Australian soldiers are receiving special instruction in tank destruction methods from men who have just returned from the Middle East. Foremost among anti-tank weapons is the flame fougasse. This is a form of mine which, when exploded by a hand control, hurls the contents of a drum of blazing bitumen, Diesel oil, and petrol over the tank. It is the newest devastating version of the “Molotov cocktail.” A variant of the flame fougasse is the demigasse, which explodes in the path of a tank instead of being projected over it.
